There were some laugh-out-loud lines that did amuse me. I had never heard of name days and googled those. Strange we don't have that here yet many nearby countries do. I'm definitely looking forward to Charlie's next case. GRIPPING AND WELL WRITTEN THRILLER

I read the sequel to this book before this one, but it did not spoil the enjoyment. The narrative of both books goes back and forth in time, so they have a very similar rhythm. I enjoyed the second book very much and this one enhanced my understanding of the Charlie and her friends and colleagues, and how she relates to others in the small town where she grew up. There are many poignant descriptions of her past, which mirror the experiences of victims. I was very involved in Charlie's family history and how her childhood experiences have affected her as an adult. The touching details of her early life put her adult problems into perspective very well. enjoyable read
